Since 2017, Arche Energy has worked with Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners on the Supernode project.
Each day, 80% of electricity in Queensland passes through the South Pine switchyard, which is just north of Brisbane. In 2017, Arche Energy completed the siting study that led to the selection of the Brendale site, adjacent to the switchyard, for the Supernode Data Centre and Battery Energy Storage Site (BESS).
For the Supernode BESS, one of the largest NEM-connected batteries in Australia, Arche’s team was Owner’s Engineer, managing the network connection application, optimisation of the project, completing design and specifications to tender level, and procuring batteries, inverters and other equipment.
On 11 April 2024, Queeensland Premier the Honourable Steven Miles, Quinbrook’s David Scaysbrook and Brian Restall, and celebrated the project’s financial close and beginning of the Construction Phase.
Once completed, the 750MW Supernode BESS will offer large power users in Queensland a stable power supply.
