Swanbank E is a gas-fired power plant south of Ipswich in South East Queensland.
The power plant receives gas from multiple sources in South West Queensland through the Roma to Brisbane Pipeline.
It features the Alstom GT26 gas turbine, which was the largest gas turbine in Australia at the time of its commissioning. The project set a world record of 254 days for the continuous operation of this gas turbine.
Commissioned in 2002, it has a capacity of 385MW and uses highly efficient combined cycle technology. Waste heat from the gas turbine is used to generate additional electricity via a second turbine at no extra fuel cost.
Its environmental impacts are managed through a comprehensive Environmental Management System, certified to ISO 14001.
Arche Energy provided the:
- Projects and Contracts Manager
- Assistant Asset Manager, Performance Engineer
- Asset Manager
- Overhaul Project Manager.
We applied our comprehensive understanding of power plant performance, thermodynamics and reliability to power generation in the project while:
- managing the EPC contract during the defects liability period and initial phases of long-term service agreement
- leading the transition to operations
- developing operational and asset management systems.
