Abel has worked in renewable energy projects for more than eight years and has developed hydropower plants, wind and solar farm projects at utility scale and connected to distribution grid (1–9MW range), primarily focused in the early stage of development.

His interests extend beyond renewable energy, exploring sustainable energy as a broader area and more recently he delivered research into potential hydrogen projects and the future of transport systems.
