Isaac Power Station

QPM Energy is developing the Isaac Power Station to provide up to 300MW of gas generation to be located at QPM’s existing site at Moranbah in Central Queensland.

The generators are to be powered with low-spec coal seam gas, significantly reducing operating costs.

Arche has worked with QPM Energy since 2023 as Owner’s Engineer, providing ongoing project development services and project management.

So far, these services have included:

  • siting study
  • technical advisory
  • managing development and environmental approvals
  • grid connection process
  • EPC contractor selection
  • management of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI)
  • generation equipment procurement
  • development of project execution strategies
  • crucial elements of the feasibility study for gas turbine procurement and installation.

After an extensive siting study, we found a suitable area to locate the Isaac Power Station. We then completed a site layout concept design for different alternatives and provided specialist advice on the preferred and alternate technologies for the project.

“I must compliment you on the work you have done to date, stepping into the breach to keep the project moving forward.”

Barry Sanders, Project Director, Isaac Power Station, QPM Energy

Our team developed documentation for, managed, and completed tender processes for OEMs and the ECI process, and developed CAPEX and OPEX cost estimates to inform financial investment. We delivered HV connection studies and developed a transmission line route.

Arche continues in this role providing QPM Energy’s team with technical and economic expertise as needed to enable them to develop the Isaac Power Station to serve the Queensland community.
