Lockyer Energy Project

The Lockyer Energy Project is a hybrid energy project tactically supporting Queensland’s transition away from coal. The project is located north of Gatton in the Lockyer Valley on the land of Yuggera and Ugarapul people.

How will the project facilitate the energy transition?

Batteries will store energy produced during periods of high generation on solar and wind farms. This energy can be used in peak demand periods or when solar and wind energy is not available. Hydrogen-ready, high efficiency aero-derivative gas turbines will provide longer duration power supply during peak periods. This allows the grid to transition away from coal fired generation and puts downward pressure on power prices.

Arche Energy provides Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners with ongoing development services and project management. Our team’s strategic support to the Lockyer Energy Project includes:

  • Managing development approvals and the network connection process
  • Gaining EPBC approval
  • Facilitating EPC contractor selection and contract negotiations
  • Development of execution strategies for the project
  • Completing a FEED study for the gas turbine project.

We are currently completing the FEED study for the 750MW BESS project.

Arche Energy implemented a compliance program and oversaw the execution of the clearing and site preparation scope of works for the project. We will continue on as the owner’s project manager and engineer during construction.

The Lockyer Energy Project exemplifies our commitment to integrating renewable energy sources with traditional power generation to enhance energy resilience and sustainability.
