Meet Alex Ross, Arche’s new Project Development Manager.
“My career has predominantly been in mining and heavy infrastructure. In the latter part of my career, I’d like to give back to the planet through rehabilitation projects and sustainable mining,” he said.
Alex is adamant that a leader needs to be very clear about the organisation’s objectives, vision and mission.
Alex was part of Energy Resources of Australia’s (ERA) two-year Leadership for Success program where he had a leadership mentor who he talked to every 30 to 60 days about how his leadership was going, any problems he had encountered, and strategies he could use.
Alex is an active reader of autobiographies of people who are considered good leaders. One of his favourites is Leadership is an Art by Max DePree.
Australia’s energy horizon
Alex elucidates how Australia should use its natural resources for energy generation.
“It’s good for us to use the natural resources we have. Australia receives a lot of sun and could benefit from more solar energy. What’s exciting is not just harnessing it for us, but harnessing it for others.”
Brisbane — a city for work and mountain biking
Alex highlights how Brisbane is the right environment for businesses like Arche to operate in.
“Brisbane has the feel of a friendly city rather than a big city. It’s a great place to do business in.”
In September 2023 Alex competed in the 99 Bikes Cycle Epic, a 100km Mountain Bike Epic in Hidden Vale.
“Mountain biking is as fun as it gets. You’re in the bush, you can go fast, jump and spend time with good friends. After five and a half hours of riding, I finished the Epic middle of the field. I’m quite happy with my results.”
