Glencore is currently assessing the feasibility of a new open-cut bauxite mine on the land of the Wik Waya people in western Cape York, Queensland, 23 kilometres north-east of Aurukun.
It is a joint venture between Glencore Bauxite Resources and MDP Bauxite, and will produce up to 15 million tonnes per year of run-of-mine (ROM) bauxite ore and associated infrastructure.
In a previous role, Arche Energy’s Construction and Development Manager, Andrew Robson, managed the complex land and mining tenure working with First Nations communities, approvals and within frameworks as part of the project’s feasibility stage.
